To this page, you should add any free resources that could help teachers of any content area. If you don't know of any, that's OK too.
Ironically, the first one I'll post is called delicious. The reason this is ironic is because delicious is actually a tool that colleagues use to share their favorite Internet resources. Think of it as a glorified version of "My favorites" or "Bookmarks" on your web browser. You use those tools to save your favorite websites, and delicious is a way for a group of people to share all of "their favorites." If we come up with too many good resources for this page, maybe we'll investigate using delicious for this course. delicious (This is actually a web-based tool similar to "my favorites" or "Links" which allows you to tag, categorize, and share your favorite sites; awesome for when you're looking for quality sites FAST!)
voicethread (Create voicethreads- short audio/video demos which others can access and comment on)
JING (Can be used to video capture whatever is on your screen at any given moment.....in real time)
Teachertube (It's like youtube, but for the classroom. Post videos that you make on teachertube. Then you can send out the URL or embed the video)
Zamzar (Free online file conversion. Have you ever had a PDF file that you wanted to convert into a Word doc? How about a .mov file you wanted to open on Windows media? This is truly a great freebie.)
Keepvid (Ever want to save a Youtube video to your computer so you can play it back without buffering or in case you lose it?)
Google Docs (Ever want to create and save your documents and presentations online? This may be one of the most powerful collaborative tools available, and it's FREE! Colleagues can work on Word docs, Power points, Excel spreadsheets online simultaneously or whenever they have time. Either way, Google docs saves the changes for next time.)
